Privacy

Summary

Measurement tools run in your browser. Calibration and optional feedback queues are stored in your browser’s localStorage. We do not require an account. These tools do not use your device camera and do not photograph or upload objects for measurement.

ExactSize Tools may use Google Analytics (and, on some deployments, other optional analytics or a remote feedback endpoint). When those features are active, anonymous product signals (and any text you choose to submit) may leave your device. That is intentional and described below — we do not claim that “nothing ever leaves your device.”

Local storage (calibration)

When you calibrate, the site saves a calibration record in your browser’s localStorage under a key such as exactsizetools:calibration:v1. That record typically includes pixels-per-millimeter, confidence level, method, and basic screen metrics used to detect when a recheck may be needed.

Clearing site data in your browser removes it. Credit card outlines are drawn on screen for matching; card numbers and images are not captured or stored.

Camera

ExactSize Tools does not ship camera-based measurement. There is no local camera capture pipeline and no server-side image processing for sizing objects.

Analytics

The product includes a lightweight analytics abstraction that can emit anonymous product events (for example: tool opened, calibration completed, measurement started, size selected, result found, related tool clicked, feedback submitted, tool request submitted). Events are designed to avoid personal information, photos, and card data. Free-text tool requests are not forwarded to third-party analytics vendors — only anonymous signals such as length flags.

We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic and product usage. When enabled via PUBLIC_GA_MEASUREMENT_ID, the site loads Google’s gtag library; page views and selected custom events may be sent to Google. GA may use cookies or similar identifiers according to Google’s privacy policy. Measurement coordinates and object images are not sent.

Some deployments may also enable privacy-friendly options such as Plausible or Umami (via PUBLIC_ANALYTICS_PROVIDER). When no third-party transport is configured, events stay local to the page (custom events / optional hooks).

Feedback and tool requests

After a size result, you may optionally answer whether the tool helped, and optionally pick a short reason. You may also request a future tool by naming an object and (optionally) what you are trying to figure out. No account is required.

These notes are stored in your browser’s localStorage (queued locally) and emitted as anonymous product events. If the site owner configures a form endpoint (PUBLIC_FEEDBACK_ENDPOINT or PUBLIC_FORMSPREE_ID), the same fields may be posted to that endpoint so requests can be reviewed. Do not include passwords, payment details, or other sensitive personal data in free-text fields.

Advertising (future)

The Site may use advertising in the future (for example Google AdSense) to support free tools. Reserved ad slots on some pages are placeholders only until ads are enabled. If ads go live, third-party ad networks may use cookies or similar technologies, and this page will be updated with more detail. Ads are not placed on the measurement gauge surface itself.

Hosting and logs

Like most websites, the hosting provider may process standard request logs (such as IP address, user agent, and URL) for security and reliability. ExactSize Tools does not operate a measurement backend or user database for these tools.

Cookies

Core measurement features do not require cookies. Google Analytics (when used) or a future advertising integration may set cookies or similar storage. Preference for color theme is stored in localStorage, not as a tracking cookie.
